A US-China deal is the appropriate season finale for a reality TV, “deal junkie” president

Yesterday, Trump officially signed another 90-day tariff pause between the US and China, following the third round of negotiations that took place in Stockholm in late July. Even though this action was widely expected, and could have easily happened right after the Stockholm meetings were concluded, the president waited until the very last minute to make the pause official.
Why? To set up the season finale of the global trade war reality TV show, where a US-China grand bargain would be the final episode.
The timing of this pause has given us all the signs we need to arrive at this conclusion.
