NVIDIA made a major announcement in its efforts to onshore advanced chip manufacturing to the US this week, by leading (demanding?) its ecosystem of partners to produce its Blackwell products in Texas and Arizona.
How do you think the US counterparts of these Taiwanese semis scale? Replicating the Taiwanese model in US is a steep curve.Dark factory is one option, but I think we're 3-5 years away from that.
The Nvidia chips negotiated in Saudi and UAE will not be sold from the US, where tariffs apply, but directly from Taiwan. Anyway, the life-cycle of the chips is two or three years at most. Plenty of time for Huawei to Ascend
Global change management, but with fabs! Looks less like de-risking on Taiwan and more like close coupling with. Curious to know how you think this plays out for AI race overall and geo-political risks?
That's a really good title and true.
Dark factory holds too many letters in common with dark forest for my brain
need to keep the dark forest in check to keep the dark factories secure! ;)

I think the harder question, and what I'm trying to get at with this post is...there are no US counterparts.
Thanks, Kevin. Yea, I'm kind of in agreement there.
