Thanks for reading 55 pages and the write up! The bill is so expansive, how is Temu going to operate if that blurb about e-commerce is so vague

Indeed. The vagueness is likely intentional, so it gives exec branch as much leeway as possible, which is common on matters of national security, real or perceived.

Bad News. USA is turning away from open international development, which got us here in the first place. Tech would be so much better if world-wide open source were continued to be development. This is a political move that moves against tech, which brought us here. USA is spiraling down faster and faster than ever. Bad News.

Thanks for the summary. Worth revisiting your comments on open source software though, I think.

The bill lists "machine learning, predictive analytics and data science products and services", that might be used to utilize, manage or maintain oss, within the context data hosting, or computing service processing over 1m US-located persons' sensitive personal data.

So basically tools for developing or exploiting OSS where used for data hosting or processing of over a million individuals' sensitive personal data.
